Stella Withey
My name is Stella Withey I was born in Chesham and
moved to Aylesbury in the 80's.I joined Stoke Mandeville Hospital
radio in 1989.
Along with Dave Gamage, we broadcast on Friday evenings
from 6-7 pm with The Magazine Show and from 7-8 pm with My Kind
Of Country, a show for country music lovers, playing old and new
tracks from Nashville including the current number one.
Once a month I present 'Kids Zone'
a show where the entire requests come from the children's ward.
My producers on this show are 4 local children who have become involved
because they want to help the patients have a nicer time when they
are in hospital, They are Olivier, Torri, Curtis, and Aimee, They
produce the show and fill it with stories, film reviews and even
the odd joke.
I have recently become involved in another project
with Dez Kay, we have been picked by The Waterside Theatre to go
along to shows and events as 'press officers' and review the shows.
This has taken us to events we would not normally have considered,
it's great fun and recently we interviewed Henry Winkler.
This is my 4th year of organising our charity golf
day which this year will be held at 'The Oxfordshire' near Thame
on the 27th September. The event is supported by lots of local companies
and last year we raised £9000 (before expenditure)
I am married to Mark Withey who is also a presenter
at Stoke Mandeville Hospital Radio and we do it because we believe
the radio station is a vital part of the hospital
