however there are times when programmes and presenters are subject
to change.

25th. With thanks again to our friends at Tesco's
in Broadfields, Aylesbury, we have purchased some more radios to
donate to wards in the Hospital that have difficulty hearing us.
If you know anyone in the Hospital that is currently having problems
listening to the station, please contact us and we will do our best
to help

21st.We would like to say a big Thank You to
The
Midcounties co-operative for giving us £500.00 from their community
project. We are currently raising funds to help towards our next
move when our current temporary studios are knocked down.
We hope to have a picture of the cheque being presented on this
page very soon.
March 08
1st.Today we started broadcasting a new programme called
Kids Zone.The show was presented by Mark and Stella Withey and special
guest presenters James and Olivier.
The show is especially for the Children in the Macarthy Childrens
ward at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and features stories,reviews and
music requests from the ward.
The photo below shows Mark (back) with James and Olivier in the
studio before the show went out live between 2 and 4pm

December 07
22nd.Members of Stoke Mandeville Hospital Radio were in
Aylesbury town centre today to entertain the Christmas shoppers
and also to raise funds for the station.
We would very much like to thank everybody who gave a donation,
with your help we raised the grand total of £1033.30 which
will go towards the cost of keeping the station on the air.

20th.A lady called Betty Gannicott has been in touch to
tell us about a book she has written about her son Peter who was
a patient in the Spinal Unit back in the 80s. (and a regular listener
to the Hospital radio station)
Betty thinks the book may be of special interest to spinally injured
people trying to return to independent living in the community and
also professionals involved in their care.
The book is called "Peter - Against all odds" and you

4th.It was 29 years ago today that Stoke Mandeville Hospitlal
Radio started broadcasting.

3rd.Stoke Mandeville Hospital Radio has received a payout
of £1935.00 from the National Lottery Awards For All Scheme.
The scheme awards funds to charities, voluntary and community projects.
The radio station will use the funds to improve and develop the
output for the patients and staff at the Hospital.

3rd.Some of the SMHR Members got together for a game of
ten pin bowling at Jardines in Aylesbury

11th.As a result of comments from both Patients and Staff
who have been finding it difficult to hear our programmes, Mike
Hill,one of our new members decided to investigate and asked the
SMHR committee if we could spend some money on buying in some radios
to distribute around the Hospital.
With thanks to Mike, and our friends at Tesco's in Broadfields,
who very kindly donated two Radios, we decided to buy a further
18 which are in the process of being distributed around the hospital

11th.Two of our presenters were featured on the BBC3 programme
"Outrageous Wasters", which showed Mark & Stella Withey
being transformed from an environmentally unfriendly household to
the eco warriors of Fairford Leys, Aylesbury.

9th.We were once again asked to supply the music and P.A
for Aylesbury's Charter Day, and here are some of our members with
Councillor Mrs Jenny Puddefoot, Mayor of Aylesbury

15th. Hospital radio members were involved with this years
"Aylesbury On Sea" event which was organised by Aylesbury
Town Council. Coronation Street star Samia Smith who plays hairdresser
Maria Sutherland in the soap was the star guest, and here she is
with our presenters Mark and Stella Withey

June 07
18th.We started broadcasting live programmes again from
our new studio.It was at 6pm that Martin Kinch presented Solid Gold,This
was followed by the first request show at 8pm presented by Matthew
Nash and Alex Trick.

12th.We are pleased to announce that we are now back on
air,the computers were started back up today and the sound of Stoke
Mandeville Hospital Radio was once again broadcasting to the hospital
complex. .
