When the Boomtown Rats wrote 'I don't like Monday's'
they obviously hadn't heard just how much fun it is for me presenting
the Monday night request show here on SMHR
The week just gets better for me as I also present an entertainment
show on a Tuesday night - which is my excuse for a laugh and a gossip
with my radio pals and hopefully all you hospital listeners.
I became a volunteer at the station after moving to Aylesbury three
years ago as I wanted to combine my love of music with meeting new
people.
When I first joined I could never have predicted just how many inspirational
staff and patients I've been privileged to meet during my time here.Thank
you all for humouring me and making me feel so welcome when I've
visited you in and around the wards to get requests.
My time on the station has taught me that music and
laughter really are the best medicine and a smile costs you nothing.
I hope I can contribute in some way to making your stay in hospital
a bit pleasanter - even if you don't share my love of Danni Minogue
songs! Let's face it 'Put the needle on it' was a total classic!!
Away from the station I work as a journalist and PR
consultant and am a real music not (or is that just nut?!) I like
anything from dance and chart music to indie music. My car is full
of scratched Hed Kandi CDs - that seems to sound better once they've
received the Jenkins battering!
It's a real exiting time for us at 1575 as we now
have brand spanking new studios and some fabulous new members who
all have great ideas for new shows and you can also now listen to
us on the internet.
In the indomitable words of the 80s group called Timbuk3
- 'The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades'
