Stoke Mandeville Hospital
Radio started broadcasting at 7.30 pm
on December the 4th 1978.
And at 7.30 pm on December the 4th 2008 former and current members of
the radio station
got together to celebrate the stations 30th anniversary.

Our President Cllr Freda Roberts MBE JP is pictured with our current Chairman
Matthew Nash (left) and former Chairmen of the station Terry Meades, Chris
Long
and Pete Royal (right) who was one of the founder members of the station

During 2008, Stoke Mandeville Hospital Radio had the difficult task of
raising £40.000 to enable
us to build new studios when our current rooms are knocked down due to
the redevelopment
of the Hospital. Our Treasurer Stella Withey was awarded these flowers
from our membership
as a Thank You for all the hard work that has been done to ensure that
we raised enough
money to pay for the new studio complex
Our President Cllr Freda Roberts MBE JP also received flowers from us
for the hard
work and meetings that have had to be held over the last 12 months
Our Trust Liaison manager Mike Hill has also had a very busy year with
us and is pictured
accepting a bottle of Champagne from Matthew Nash as a Thank You from
the members of SMHR
Dave Lee Travis made a surprise appearance on the night to pay tribute
to the radio station and remembered coming to our studios in 1980 to be
interviewed by Martin Kinch,
