Stoke Mandeville Hospital
Radio started broadcasting at 7.30 pm
on December the 4th 1978.
And at 7.30 pm on December the 4th 2008 former and current members of
the radio station
got together to celebrate the stations 30th anniversary.
Former members Cllr Dave
Ralph and Cllr Denise Summers were present, as was Mayor of
Aylesbury, Penni Thorne, members of the Hospital Trust and Voluntary services
department,
President of the Hospital Broadcasting Association June Snowden and Aylesbury
Vale District Councillor Janet Blake, who recently donated £10,000 from
the Community Chest fund
towards the cost of building our new studios.
Radio and TV legend Dave Lee Travis also came along to pay tribute to
the radio station
June Snowden handed out the following long service certificates to some
of our current members
Steve Andrews - 10 years

Roy McNabb has also done 10 years service

Ralph Chadwick - 10 Years

Dave Gamage was also awarded a certificate for 10 years service
(In case you are wondering, Dave couldn't make it on the night so his
Co presenter Stella Withey
accepts the certificate from June on his behalf)

Nick Sievewright has done 15 years
Mark Withey has done 20 years

And so has our Chairman, Matthew Nash

Dez Kay has now done 30 years
Martin Kinch also gets a 30 year certificate

And our President Cllr Freda Roberts
MBE JP accepts a 30 year certificate for
Stoke Mandeville Hospital Radio from HBA President June Snowden
